Criptine 2.5mg Tablet is a dopamine agonist and prolactin inhibitor. It is used to treat conditions caused by high levels of prolactin, such as infertility and abnormal breast milk production. Criptine should be taken with food, ideally at the same time each day for better results. Follow your doctor's advice regarding dosage and duration of use. Regular exercise, a diet plan, and other prescribed diabetes medications should be adhered to while on this treatment. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, fatigue, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or become severe. Avoid alcohol as it can enhance side effects.
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Criptine.
Criptine is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects on the developing baby; however, human studies are limited.
Criptine is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggest that the drug may pass into breast milk and harm the baby. Criptine is usually not used during breastfeeding because it suppresses lactation.
Criptine may cause dizziness or weakness due to low blood pressure. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Criptine is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data suggest that dose adjustment may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
There is limited information available on the use of Criptine in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor. However, cautious use of this medicine is advised in these patients.
High levels of prolactin, female infertility, acromegaly.
Criptine works by activating dopamine receptors and reducing prolactin secretion from the anterior pituitary gland, which can help with conditions like galactorrhoea, infertility, and acromegaly by lowering growth hormone levels.
Bromocriptine mesylate is a dopamine receptor agonist that primarily inhibits the secretion of prolactin by activating post-synaptic dopamine receptors. In acromegaly, it lowers elevated blood levels of growth hormone. It significantly reduces plasma levels of prolactin in patients with both physiologically elevated prolactin and hyperprolactinemia.
